When Ann Johnston founded Central States Marketing in 2000, she did so with a clear belief: that strong relationships, integrity, and a client-first mindset could be the foundation for a company built to last.
More than two and a half decades later, we are proud and grateful to share an important milestone in CSM’s continued story. After many years of thoughtful planning, Brynne Behringer has entered into an agreement to acquire majority ownership of Central States Marketing from Ann Johnston and Mike Rea. This is not simply a business transition—it is the meaningful moment of handing the baton to someone who understands, respects, and has helped shape the heart of this company.
Since joining our team 17 years ago, Brynne has been an integral part of CSM, serving as a Project Manager and minority partner while working closely alongside the leadership team. Over those years, she has earned our trust, our respect, and our confidence through her leadership, steadiness, and deep commitment to our clients, partners, vendors, and team. She knows what makes Central States special because she has been instrumental in helping build and protect it.
Most importantly, nothing about how we serve our clients or partners is changing. CSM will continue to operate exactly as it does today, with the same team, the same values, the same leadership philosophy, and the same commitment to integrity and exceptional service.
To ensure continuity and a smooth transition, Ann and Mike will remain actively involved with the company for the next 18 months in their current roles. Ann will continue her close, client-facing work and relationship leadership throughout the transition, maintaining the trusted partnerships that have always been central to CSM. Mike will also continue to be involved across our operations and business departments, helping support the day-to-day transition and providing continuity for our clients, team, and long-term success.
We are deeply grateful to our clients, partners, vendors, and team members who have helped shape CSM into what it is today. Your trust, collaboration, and support have made this milestone possible, and we are confident that Brynne will carry Central States forward with the same care, conviction, and commitment that have guided us from the beginning.
This moment is both personal and celebratory. It honors where Central States began in 2000, recognizes the strong foundation we have built together, and looks ahead with confidence as Brynne leads CSM into its next chapter. It is truly business as usual—and also a very meaningful step forward
