Happy Holidays and welcome to the most wonderful (and chaotic) time of the year!
Celebrating this season with family and friends looks a little different for each of us. For some it means matching pajamas and a favorite Christmas movie. For others it means volunteering and baking cookies for neighbors. Our celebrations might include treasured traditions and recipes from the past or new experiences—all designed to bind us closer and mark these special days together. Most of us will spend at least a few moments remembering loved ones who are no longer with us but will always hold a special place in our heart.
No matter how you choose to spend your December, we hope you are able to pause and deeply enjoy the special moments you work so hard to inspire during this season.
It can be so easy to get caught up in all of our holiday tasks—grocery lists, gift lists, mailing lists, honey-do lists… We sometimes forget that behind all the checkmarks and wrapping paper, underneath the decorations and porch deliveries are real human beings who treasure being with us more than any gift. What would happen if we all slowed down just a little bit this December, took a deep breath, and really absorbed the smiling faces around us? If we really paused to enjoy those precious moments of connection before rushing off to the next activity?
Maybe that means skipping the elf on the shelf this year, so that you have more time for bedtime stories. Or maybe it means forgoing the holiday cards and having a long leisurely lunch with your sister instead. This year, we give you permission to skip the holiday traditions that bring you stress and make space for real connection with the people you love. Join us in letting go of expectations that are unrealistic and resisting the urge to make every moment Instagram-able this holiday. With the pressure for perfection gone, we can all more fully enjoy the simple gift of togetherness that truly makes this season special.
